I Used to be Afraid

Every child deals with fears in their life. Whether they be rational or irrational, they all have the ability to be very frightening and make a large impact on their childhood. I Used to be Afraid is a colorful, lively children’s book that discusses many common fears that children of all ages experience.

Although these fears may be prevalent in the main character’s life, she manages to get over each one, giving hope to any child who may have experienced these same or similar fears. Although the story does not have much depth or a clear beginning, middle and end, Seeger’s picture book is a good easy read for young children.
